Sports Betting Education

Sports Betting Education

If you live in a legal betting state, you likely get bombarded daily with lucrative sportsbook bonus offers and sports betting terms thrown at you constantly.

But How Do You Bet on Sports??

What you don’t get is any sort of education on sports betting. It’s great that a sportsbook offers parlay betting .and betting on a wide variety of sports, but if you don’t know HOW to bet on any sports or what any sports betting terminology means, you’re going in to sports betting uninformed – which is a great way to lose money.

This is a major failing in the sports betting market in the US that SharpBetting seeks to address. In our ever-expanding Sports Betting EDU section, we’ll seek to simplify sports betting with easily understood explanations of all facets of sports betting.

SharpBetting Education

We have straightforward articles covering all you need to know about sports betting, from how odds work and the different types of odds worldwide, to explaining what round robin betting is, what parlays are, to guides on how to bet on specific sports. It’s a true Sports Betting 101 guide, that will continue to expand.

Have a question? Let us know and we’ll answer you AND write up an article about it.

Ready to Bet?

In the USA, nearly every state requires you to be 21 years of age or older to be verified by online sportsbooks and bet online with them.  Montana, New Hampshire, RI, and Washington state theoretically allow users to bet online at age 18.  If you see a sportsbook in the other states that promises you that you can bet online at age 18, that’s a sure sign that it’s an unregulated offshore sportsbook.
That depends on the state you’re located in.  Across the US there are over 40 legal sportsbooks that are available.  Typically, a state that’s newer to online sports betting will have 6-10 sportsbooks legal, whereas some of the states with longer legalized sports betting, like New Jersey, have around 25 online sportsbooks available.
Yes and yes.  And you should!  Sportsbooks allow you to set daily win and loss limits, time spent limits, deposit limits on a monthly, weekly, and daily basis, and maximum wagers per day limits.  There are no shortage of self-imposed limits that you should look into.  Most importantly, though, you need to come into your betting with a plan – and stick to it.  This plan should include how much you want to bet, how much you can afford to lose, and what your stopping point is.  Further, you may want to consider when to cash out a bet early if you’re winning it.  If your plan is that you have $100 to have fun with and if you lose it, that’s it for the month, you should set a deposit limit of $100 a month BEFORE you start betting.
