In the US, betting on the NFL is king.  Up to 70% of total sports bets are placed on NFL games throughout the season, with the Super Bowl boasting a staggering number of bettors.  Following the NFL,  college football, NBA basketball, and NCAA basketball round out the chart.  The NCAA tournament is overall the most bet upon “event”, although it’s difficult to classify something with 60+ games as single event.  Click Here for Top Sportsbook Bonus Offers
The simplest type of sports bet to place is the moneyline bet – where you just pick the winner of an event.  Can’t get any easier than that.  The problem with moneyline betting though, is that odds can be pretty terrible if you just pick the favorite each game, so you won’t win much.  And on the other side, odds are pretty long if you pick the underdog – it’s also very unlikely you’ll win, but the payout can be huge if that upset happens.

Thus, bettors supplement moneyline betting with spread betting, where oddsmakers add or deduct points from a team in an event. This points deduction or addition evens out the odds to make it a tossup bet theoretically – although bear in mind that you’ll not get a $1 per $1 payout as sportsbooks take a fee, known as the vig.

Another common bet type is over/under or totals betting, where you simply bet on whether the two teams combined will score more or less than a certain amount.   While there are dozens of other bets you can place, these three are the most common. Click Here to Learn How to Bet on Sports Online

Quite easy.  Generally you provide your name, address, email, phone number, and the last 4 digits of your SSN.  If your address is found by the database employed by the sportsbook, you may be prompted to answer a series of 4-5 questions pertaining to your life.  If answered correctly, generally you will be approved to begin betting.  If the sportsbook needs more information to verify you, you will be prompted to provide your whole social security number and often an identifying document such as a license.
